Do you remember what your favorite part of camp was? Thanks to all of your support, Elevate Youth just had the first three day camping trip of the summer! New favorite camp memories were made with students from the Hennigan and Kenny schools. With almost a full week of adventures, starting with sailing on the coast of Boston on Monday then heading out camping at Lantern Lights Camp in New Hampshire Tuesday through Thursday, our Elevate Youthers had an amazing week. We spent time exploring around Lantern Light Camp and learning new skills that some had never even heard of, like sharpening axes with a whetstone, branding wood, and leather working. These skills were another step in the direction of following our vision of sparking a lifelong love of nature and thanks to your help, we are able to provide equitable access to the outdoors.

On Tuesday, we arrived at Lantern Lights camp, where we started with the first amazing meal of the trip followed by time at the water front. Campers had the opportunity to swim, canoe, kayak, or even take out mini sailboats if they wanted. Later after archery and dinner, Lantern Lights put on an awesome bonfire with plays, songs, and stories to end the night. The following day, campers rotated between different activities from the frontier where we got to chop wood with axes, build a fire, cook in the outdoors, to creative expressions where pottery making, and painting and leather making all took place. This was followed by playing sports and star gazing later that night. On our last day, kids were given the opportunity to go wherever they wanted to spend more time. This access is something that is rarely found, especially when it is not very accessible due to social staus, economic status, or location. However, as we continue to work towards our vision and with your generous donations, we can lessen this gap one program at time. You can support kids getting outside and experiencing the outdoors today. Visit our page about Camp Elevate to learn more about how your contribution will have an immediate impact on a child’s summer experience.
